Lady Bower Fisheries have launched their first wheelchair friendly boat, adding it alongside the other boats in their fleet. The boat has been able to be produced through fund-raising by Accessible Derbyshire and The Wheelyboat Trust. The boat enables wheelchair based anglers to have the same experience and opportunities as the able bodied.

Designed and developed by JM Coulam in conjunction with The Wheelyboat Trust, the boat is based on an existing reservoir fishing boat, with additional step-aboard access. Wheelchair users can board via the pontoon to a ramp or hydraulic platform. Removable handrails complete the set-up keeping anglers safe and secure.

We are so delighted to see this Wheelyboat launched at the Ladybower Reservoir because we know how much Accessible Derbyshire and Ladybower Fisheries wanted to make this happen for their disabled anglers.  Our grateful thanks also extend to Lord Leverhulme’s Charitable Trust for their grant towards the Wheelyboat.
