The Preston Innovations England Feeder Team had a chance of making history in the 2016 World Feeder Championships.
Just three points separated the top three teams after the first day, so it was always going to be a close affair.
Unfortunately, last year’s World Champions had to settle for second place. Germany completely dominated the event, scoring an incredible 21 points. A massive 13 points ahead of second place, England.
This is Germany’s first gold in the World Feeder Championships, but after this weekend we’re sure it won’t be their last. Worthy winners indeed!
The World Feeder Championships is one of the most exciting and fresh competitions on the World stage. The standard of angler is increasing year on year, which makes for a truly entertaining and action packed Championship.
England Feeder Team Manager Tommy Pickering gave us his thoughts on this year’s World Feeder Champs; “Obviously we’re all very disappointed not to make history in Serbia and win the event for a third time, in three years. Especially after such a commanding first day performance. We were very confident and felt like we had the winning tactics.
With the benefit of hind sight, I think we needed another option up our sleeves, another go to line to keep putting fish in the net. The venue changed dramatically and we couldn’t have ever anticipated it to change as much as it did.
Congratulations must go to Germany; they were fantastic incredible achievement. Their tactics were flawless over the two days, which made the difference and separated the two teams. I’m incredibly proud of all the team, they worked so hard, as always. We’ll be back again next year in Portugal, to try get our gold back!
Adam was very unlucky not to claim an individual medal after two section wins
Congratulations, and commiserations to all of the Preston Innovations England Feeder team on their silver medal. Hard work, professionalism and comradery are just few of the ingredients to England’s success recipe. They are truly a credit to the sport and our country.
